OpenLivingLab Days is a unique 3-day long event bringing together researchers, public authorities, companies and Living Lab practitioners to exchange knowledge, best practices, methodologies and tools related to Living Labs and user engagement.

Organised by iSCAPE Partner ENoLL (The European Network of Living Labs), the theme of this year’s event is “Co-creating innovation: scaling up from Local to Global” and is taking place from 3 to 5 September 2019 in Thessaloniki, Greece.

The event has seen the participation of a number of members of the iSCAPE team, from ENoLL as well as from University College Dublin (UCD) and Connected Places Catapult (CPC), and has been a great opportunity to collaborate with other European projects, initiatives and living labbers.

A breakdown of iSCAPE’s involvement can be found below:

DAY 1 – we (Santa Stibe – UCD) participated as moderators in the “Open Living Lab Days Scaling-Up Challenge” session co-organized by DG RTD and EASME, with the iSCAPE project being also included as one of the best practice case studies discussed during the session. (More information on the session can be found here: https://openlivinglabdays.com/scaling-up-challenge/)

DAY 2 – iSCAPE team members Katinka Schaff (CPC), Ines Vaittinen (ENoLL) and Santa Stibe (UCD) in collaboration with UNaLAB (Salla from Tampere city) and the Siscode project took part in the “Citizen Science & Living Labs” session. The main objective of this workshop was to share knowledge and discuss the potential of using citizen science as a tool for citizen engagement in Living Lab activities. The session also gave the opportunity to present the sensors developed through iSCAPE (More information on the session can be found here:: https://openlivinglabdays.com/2019/06/17/citizen-science-living-labs-how-do-you-involve-citizen-scientists-in-your-living-lab-projects/

On Day 2 iSCAPE was also involved in the workshop “Urban Living Lab Playground: The Game”: Through the workshop participants learned how an ULL functions and how it can bring in city stakeholders together to fight a given climate challenge.
